Bún Chả Cá 109

PICKCLASSIC

Three generations and 40-plus years of house-made fried and steamed fish cakes (plus tuna, mackerel and crab) in a broth balanced with pineapple and tomato. Bare-bones plastic-stool decor, Michelin-listed, and a genuinely local daily-lunch spot rather than a tourist production.

Plastic stools, a fish-cake broth worth the trip, no ceremony.

Coffee & work

43 Factory Coffee Roaster

PICK

Central Vietnam's flagship specialty-coffee roaster in a minimalist concrete-and-glass space: floor-embedded power outlets, a serious pour-over and espresso program, and a predominantly foreign laptop crowd. The standout coffee-and-work destination in the city, not just a filler entry on a cafe list.

The cafe that made An Thượng's laptop scene make sense.
