Working from Bangkok as a digital nomad: coworking and cafés

UTC+7 puts Europe's morning in your afternoon and America's workday in your night. The desks follow the BTS, and the café closes before your call starts.

Part of: Paying in Thailand

UTC+7 with no daylight saving puts Bangkok on the opposite clock from the Latin American cities in this set: a European morning is a Bangkok afternoon, and a US workday is a Bangkok night. The desks follow the BTS. Silom and Sathorn have the densest run of coworking that’s trading now, Thonglor has The Hive, Ari has the café culture, and the far end of the Sukhumvit line has a tech campus beside BTS Punnawithi. The cafés are day businesses, and condo fiber carries the serious calls.

Bangkok’s coworking scene has churned since 2020, and several 2026 roundups still list spaces that have closed. The names below are the ones with the most recent signs of trading; check any of them before you cross town.

Where the work gets done

  1. Book a desk by the BTS in Silom

The Work Loft fills floors 3 to 6 of the NST One Building on Soi Silom 1, about thirty seconds from BTS Sala Daeng Exit 2 and a few minutes from MRT Si Lom: coworking, meeting rooms, private offices and a café-bar. It posted new opening hours in mid-October 2026, so check them before you go. Launchpad, on Pan Road near BTS Saint Louis and Surasak, has garden-zone coworking and serviced offices, and ClubCo is a boutique space in the Asia Centre building on South Sathorn, near BTS Chong Nonsi. This is the strip for anyone whose week runs on calls.

  2. Or the big operators across the center

JustCo runs sites from Silom and Samyan to Chit Lom, including Gaysorn Amarin, linked to BTS Chit Lom, and The Collective at One Bangkok on Wireless Road. Its newest, in Huai Khwang's Jubilee Prestige Tower, opened on September 30, 2026, about 200 meters from the MRT. WeWork has three buildings: Spring Tower on Phayathai Road in Ratchathewi, T-One on Sukhumvit Soi 40 with a skywalk to BTS Thong Lo, and The Parq on Ratchadaphisek Road, above MRT Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre. Servcorp covers the corporate end: central, but not a community.

  3. The Hive, for the community

The Hive Thonglor, on Sukhumvit Soi 49, has seven floors and a rooftop café, and it's the space the nomad crowd names first. It's a short ride or a long walk from BTS Thong Lo rather than on top of it, so take a motorbike taxi from the station in the heat. Its sister, The Hive Prakanong on Sukhumvit Soi 69, is about two minutes from BTS Phra Khanong. For anyone based at the far end of the line, True Digital Park sits beside BTS Punnawithi, with paid coworking, an open space with wifi and a run of events.

  4. Let the café cover the morning

Cafés here open early and close early. Ari has the densest café-work culture in the city, and its cafés double as unofficial coworking: NANA Coffee Roasters on Ari Soi 4 is the one to start with. Thonglor and Ekkamai have the densest specialty-coffee belt, along Ekkamai Road. Specialty cafés beat chain cafés and mall food courts for a call. Outlets vary, so arrive charged. The Old Town is thin on work cafés; it's a sightseeing base, not a work one.

  5. Anchor serious work on condo fiber

Home fiber is the connection that carries a shared screen. The providers are AIS Fibre, which now owns 3BB, and True Online, and most condos come wired for at least one. Older buildings can cap a fast plan with old internal wiring, which is why you run a speed test in the unit before you sign, not after. Mobile data on AIS or True 5G is a workable backup in the central districts; keep it as the line that catches a dropped call.

The clock is the thing to plan around. A Bangkok afternoon, from about three to six, is a European morning, which makes Europe-facing work comfortable every day; Sydney and Perth sit a few hours ahead. The US is the mirror image: New York is eleven or twelve hours behind, so a morning stand-up lands at roughly 8 to 11 pm here. That’s workable for a few calls a week and hard for a full-overlap job, which makes Bangkok a good fit for Europe and Asia-Pacific and a night shift for the US.

The café is a daytime desk. The evening call belongs to the fiber or the coworking floor.

The working day bends to the weather too. From mid-May to mid-October the storms come in the afternoon and evening and flood the lanes fast, so cross town to a desk in the morning and be there before the rain. In January and February the haze can be bad, so check Air4Thai or IQAir before planning a day on a terrace.

For the coffee itself, look for a PromptPay or Thai QR at the café counter. The Yodl app asks you to verify before your first payment in Thailand; after that you scan the code, and a licensed local partner pays the merchant in baht. More on paying is in the Thailand payment guide.

Mistakes to avoid

  1. Planning an evening call from a café

Most Bangkok cafés close between late afternoon and early evening, and some close a weekday or two besides. Book the coworking desk or stay on the condo fiber for anything after dark.

  2. Signing the lease before testing the fiber

Older buildings can cap a fast plan with old internal wiring. Run a speed test in the unit itself before you pay anything.

  3. Working from a roundup's coworking list

HUBBA, the old startup anchor in Ekkamai, is gone, and several 2026 roundups still list it along with other closed spaces. Check the operator's own page, or message them, before you cross town for a desk.

  4. Treating US hours as a day job

A full US workday here runs through the night. If your team is in the Americas, set the call windows before you arrive and keep the days for sleep and errands.

Common questions

Is the wifi reliable in Bangkok?

At home, mostly yes. AIS Fibre, which now also owns 3BB, and True Online wire most condos, and newer buildings often include fiber in the common fees. Older buildings can choke a fast plan with old internal wiring, so run a speed test in the unit before you sign. Café wifi varies, and chain cafés and mall food courts are the worst rooms for a call. Mobile data on AIS or True 5G is a workable backup in the central districts.

Which neighborhood is best to work from?

Silom and Sathorn for the most coworking near both the BTS and the MRT. Ari for café work, though it has few dedicated desks. Thonglor for The Hive and an evening scene. On Nut and Phra Khanong for lower rent, with The Hive Prakanong and True Digital Park on the line.

What's the time difference with Europe and the US?

Bangkok runs on UTC+7 with no daylight saving. It's six hours ahead of London in British Summer Time and seven in winter, and five or six ahead of Central Europe, so a Bangkok afternoon is a European morning. It's eleven or twelve hours ahead of New York, so a US morning stand-up lands around 8 to 11 pm here, and fourteen or fifteen ahead of the West Coast. Sydney is three or four hours ahead of Bangkok, Perth one.

Are cafés open in the evening?

Mostly not. Bangkok cafés are day businesses: the Roots chain opens early and closes in the late afternoon at every branch, most cafés on one 2026 list of new openings close between late afternoon and early evening, and several close one or two weekdays. For an evening laptop session, try a community mall like theCOMMONS in Thonglor or Saladaeng, Cloud 11 at Punnawithi, or a coworking day pass.

Do I need a coworking space, or are cafés enough?

Cafés cover the mornings, if you arrive charged; outlets vary and chain cafés and mall food courts are poor for calls. For the call that can't drop, or a full day, book a desk: The Work Loft by BTS Sala Daeng, JustCo's sites across the center, WeWork's three buildings, Launchpad in Silom, The Hive in Thonglor or Phra Khanong, or True Digital Park at Punnawithi. Get prices and hours from the operator's own page; the roundups that list them are often stale.
